Clearwater Beach Real Estate Agent meets local Artist Christopher M. Still
Accomplished local artist, Christopher M Still, is having an exhibit of his most recent collection, “Return to Picnic Island” at the Sandpearl Resort this weekend. His artwork for this exhibit is based on local history, families, sea life and habitats found from exploring the Island of Caladesi and Clearwater Beach.
I had the pleasure of being part of a private tour of the Christopher M. Still Studio of Fine Painting recently located at 324 East Lemon Street in Tarpon Springs Florida.
I painted murals on Clearwater Beach in the past and I cant even begin to tell you what goes into a Still work of art the research, the care the creativity are sheer genious. He is a joy to hear share his passion and the stories behind the paintings.
I was also able to see the inspirations for these paintings and learned more about the history and story behind each one (Maybe I can share more in the future 🙂

We also got a sneak peak at some of the artwork that will be auctioned off at the Sandpearl Resort at a Dinner and Sale of Original Paintings being held this Saturday, October 27, 2007. He also has limited edition prints available for purchase on his website.
Check out the sand dollar in this painting Still created it so that if you stick your hand out at the checkout counter it will fit in your hand perfectly.
Thats the kind of research and attention to realism and detail that makes his artwork so magical for those of us who have lived on and love Clearwater Beach.
When we visited him in his private studio Christopher shared with us that his Sandpearl Resort commissioned paintings give tourists “a little education on the beach and what they can expect to find on the beach.” In the first painting, Beneath the Waves, it shows an underwater view of the various living shells and such and in the second painting, Return to Picnic Island, it shows them on the beach for example in the “first painting it shows what the sand dollar looks like alive and then in the second painting it shows what it looks like bleached out by the sun on the beach, and what a scallop looks like alive and what a scallop looks like on the beach and it will help them learn its not something to just stick in your suitcase.”
For his most recent project and paintings done for the Sandpearl Resort, Christopher Still and his wife, Kelly, a marine biologist work together and spent over a year researching and learning about the shells, the marine life and the natural habitat to allow him to create his artwork which truly gives a unique insight to the Caladesi and the Clearwater Beach experience.
I hope youll take advantage of this unique opportunity to experience both the Sandpearl Resort and Christopher Stills artwork at the Sandpearl Resort Art Exhibition I promise you wont be disappointed by either!
And if youre a Christopher Still fan like me youll be happy to know that his next project will keep him close to home in Pinellas County since he will be creating a one-of-a-kind creation for Ruth Eckerd Hall of Clearwater.
